Mrs. Pryor is our Media Center Specialist.

In the library we work on library skills that include using the online catalog, locating fiction and nonfiction books, and identifying information found in a book. We learn about three major awards: Caldecott, Newbery, and Texas Bluebonnet.

We also learn how to use reference materials such as the dictionary, encyclopedia, atlas, and Internet resources. We read books from different genres such as historical fiction, poetry, and folk literature.

The students will come to the library one day a week to learn library skills and to check out a book.  They will have the same library day each week.

We encourage the use of the library
The student book limits are as follows:

  • Kindergarten: 2 books
  • First and Second Grades: 2 books
  • Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade: 2 books
  • The checkout period for students is one week.  All students may renew books they are still reading.  If a book is lost, the student will be charged for the missing book.
  • Parents may check out up to 10 books for a two week period.
