TRANSPORTATION & SAFETY 2009-2010

Welcome Back to School!

All students MUST register online at http://bgroadrunners.org/traffic-and-safety  (see Register for carpool link on right side bar. Note: This is for walkers, busriders, bikers, and carpoolers!)

Most of you have registered by now online.  For those of you that have not, PLEASE do so A.S.A.P.!!  If you do not have access to a computer, the school will allow you to use some computers that are set up for you (front desk can direct you to them).  Computers may also be available to you at the Houston Public Library. Please check with you neighborhood branch.

CARPOOL PROCEDURE:

Upon receiving your carpool number and plastic sleeve in the mail, peel off the paper backing to expose the adhesive and put the sleeve on the PASSENGER-SIDE, upper corner of your windshield or visor.  Slide the carpool number into the sleeve with the number facing out.  For afternoon pick up of your children, you MUST have this carpool # displayed.  Be sure your child knows his/her carpool number before school starts.

There are two carpool lines for drop-off in the mornings and afternoon pick up.

THE BACK is at the rear of the school building.

§         Carpool #s A through M pick up in the Back.

§         The lot is one way, entering east at Briarmead Dr. and exiting west onto Briar Ridge Dr. (see map)

§         Right turn only when exiting the parking lot onto Briar Ridge.  Traffic officers will be enforcing right turns only.

§         There will be no entering Briarmead Dr. from San Felipe from 2-4 p.m.  All drivers must access Briarmead from Potomac.  Traffic flow on Briarmead Dr. near the school will be one way during the afternoon.

THE FRONT is the side that faces San Felipe Rd.

§         Carpool #s N through Z pick up in the Front.

§         All students must enter the car on the right side.

§         RIGHT TURN only onto San Felipe (turning with the flow of traffic) when exiting.

PARK SIDE is for students walking home or riding their bikes.

§         No parking on Briar Ridge – this causes traffic back-ups and blind spots.

§         Children cross at crosswalks only!!

§         NO cars will be allowed to drop off or pick up on Briar Ridge Dr. or Terwilliger.
